Pakistan Pakistan (Km 72,847)

Mi visit to Pakistan served to understand a little more about this area so complex of the world. According to Adnan, the Taliban is a fundamentalist religious and political movement that arose in Afghanistan, during the civil war which began after the Soviet occupation.

United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates (Km 72,435)

The objective of visiting the Persian Gulf was to know a little more about the Arabs, since only I had been related with them in poor countries, and also to take advantage of my visit to look for some sponsors to cycle the rest of Asia. But in Emirates I was not lucky.

Qatar Qatar (Km 71,720)

Qatar surprised me. It is a desert country located in a small peninsula which emerges from Saudi Arabia. Its reservations of gas and petroleum had transformed completely the economy of the emirate, which today has a high-level of life and all the comforts of any modern nation. I also stopped here to look for sponsors

Saudi Arabia Saudi Arabia (Km 70,220)

The religion in Saudi Arabia has a fundamental role in each aspect of the daily routine; therefore it is a unique country. But the Saudis are nice people although sometimes it is hard to understand them. 900 km through the desert, at 14 km/h and escorted by police, it wasn’t easy!!!

According to the Koran, the Muhammad’s role was to purify certain teachings that no longer had the original form because with the passing time have gotten lost, forgotten or not well interpreted. This was the Prophet Muhammad’s Mission, Syed said to me,

Kuwait is a clean, organized and modern country. Here I met very nice people, made friends and I got some sponsors. I also learned about its history and its present situation. The first country of the gulf region really didn’t disappoint me.

Qom is considered a holy city in the Islam Shiite, since the sepulchre of Fatima is located there; she was the sister of the seventh descendant of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. The city is the world centre of the studies Islamic Shiites, and it is an important destination of pilgrimage.

I stayed in Tehran more than three weeks, although only a couple of days had been enough to discover the people's availability and their warmth; and to understand that it is not the Iran that we watch on TV. My friends also told me about about the oil history.

In a couple of minutes a hundred people gather around me; I can not believe it, I seem a Martian. So the policeman try to control the situation, he turns the siren on to move the public away, but the situation becomes uncontrollable.

Turkey Turkey

To cycle the east of Turkey was hard. On the way to the Iran border I arrived to Dogubayazit and I was amazed to see the majestic Ararat Mount, where according to the Bible and also according to the Koran, it is the place which the Noah’s ark landed. To be there and to know about its history was exciting.

We met today in Toronto. I saw your video. Your persistence and focus are admirable and deserve respect. You are an inspiration and an example what can be achieved and overcome once we put our mind and heart to it. I hope you connect again with your Clara. I have to say that I am really impressed! It really is of professional quality but what makes it excellent is that it keeps just a little homemade touch that makes it even more real and touching. The fact that it spans such a long period of time makes it really original as one quickly realizes that it is not only a bike trip DVD but the story of a major part of your life, with their ups and downs, as we can see you change physically and emotionally through time. I also think the video has the perfect balance of information and emotion. I have to say that I shed a tear. So I raise my hat to you. You are incredibly strong! I wish you the best of luck!
